The Science of Knowing What Makes Others Tick

Do you ever wonder why something motivates you but not someone else? Why it is hard to get everyone behind your mission and vision? Why some drivers just seem to have more accidents and insurance claims than others? Why good employees sometimes make poor managers? Why you are the only one who makes decisions? Why you can delegate reliably to some people but not to others? Predictive Index® can help you find the answers to these questions and more. Predictive Index can make your company more successful at recruiting, training, retaining and motivating employees. (Those participating in this session will be given a P.I. evaluation to learn more about their own personalities.)

Understanding Yourself to Get the Most Out of Others

As leaders, we frequently struggle with why people just don’t do what we want them to do. In this presentation, Bob will direct attendees to look first in the mirror. By better understanding ourselves, we’ll be able to gain a better understanding of how to get more productivity out of the people working around us. Attendees of the session will fill out a Predictive Index survey online prior to attending and will receive the results of the survey prior to the presentation. Bob will use these 90 minutes to help us understand their results in relation to:

  • Why we do the things we do
  • How we can manage ourselves to increase the productivity of ourselves and those around us
  • What kinds of work we each enjoy doing and why
  • How we communicate and how we can communicate more effectively
  • Why individual hot buttons are different and how to motivate people to their needs

This is a fun and insightful presentation, and will provide each person attending with valuable takeaways they’ll be able to put to use immediately.

Harnessing Personality to Drive Increased Profitability

The audience will have the opportunity to see how the result of their own Predictive Index (PI) assessment impacts how they manage their businesses. Topics to be discussed include:

  • What individual’s strengths are, and how they can advantage them
  • What kind of team will synergize around their individual leadership
  • How to increase the productivity and profitability of their sales force
  • Why incentives work in some areas and not in others
  • How to decrease turnover – through better hiring and targeted management
  • Why problem employees are problems, and what might be done to turn them around

Bob’s perspective on assessments is from the practical side. He asks “What does this information specifically do for you in making your business run better?” He helps each participant answer that question for themselves. By providing an understanding of PI, Bob will give audience members a platform from which to better judge how and why people operate the way they do and give participants a tool to influence the process.

How to Become an Exceptional Leader

It is a myth that exceptional leaders must be charismatic visionaries. The reality is exceptional leaders are people who work hard to perform three basic tasks better than their competition. Specifically, they:

  • Develop, communicate and operate on a day-to-day basis with a clear strategy, plan and vision
  • Manage people to satisfy each person’s individual needs
  • Assign tasks that maximize each person’s strengths.

In this session, you will learn why and how to adopt these 3 practices. By so doing, you will energize your team to trump your competition – because your team will give the best they have to give.

With lots of interaction, Bob provides members with these takeaways:

  • An understanding of why these simple actions yield big results
  • A blueprint of what’s needed to clarify strategy, plan and vision
  • A system for understanding the different needs your people have and how to use that understanding to maximize performance.
  • A model to best advantage the individual strengths of your people (and yourself)

Building Organizational Confidence – A Foundation Built With Leadership

Bob provides a framework for understanding how leadership impacts the development of organizational confidence. He’ll discuss how to transition from a collegial culture to a results-based culture and how that transformation can energize and transform an institution.

Understanding People to Maximize the Power of Lean Six Sigma

The tools of Lean Six Sigma assume no variation between people when, in reality, human variance frequently is the difference between success and failure in project results. Attendees will have an opportunity to take the Predictive Index needs assessment survey and find out this tool measures human variance in ways directly related to work. Attendees will be demonstrated a tool that can help them:

  • Select belts
  • Select Teams
  • Motivate and coach teams and individuals
  • Assess and improve productivity as a tool in HR based projects

Why is 1/2 sigma performance in people tolerated? How Can we Reach 6 Sigma Levels?

In many organizations, only one out of three people selected to become Black Belts are truly successful in their role. Many flounder without completing their first project. Others only produce marginal results. Formerly successful organizational leaders leave the organization. Frequently, coaching of BB’s goes unheeded where in other cases it hits the mark. How can we tolerate this level of inconsistency with people in a 6 Sigma world? Why don’t we hold people to the same DMAIC standards we do our processes? In this session, Bob Wilson will lead a discussion about how the Predictive Index behavioral assessment can be used to raise performance levels throughout the change management process. Attendees will take the Predictive Index on line prior to the session and results of that assessment will be used to understand how variance can be driven out of hiring, coaching and mentoring Black Belts.

Personality, Six Sigma and Product Development

Is the voice of the customer best heard by simply collecting data? Why is it easier to design for Six Sigma than to implement Six Sigma in an existing process? Is it possible to design not only operational processes for Six Sigma but to pre-determine who would best execute the processes once they are designed? Can you select a design team that will maximize the output of the DFSS process? In this two-hour session, answers to each of these questions will be provided as a result of a better understanding of human behavior in general and the behavior of each attendee specifically.

Seven Steps to a Successful Strategic Plan

There are many reasons for taking on the strategic planning process. The most important of these include:

  • Providing a consistent vision for an organization that gets everyone heading in the same direction
  • Assuring that issues that are important, but not urgent are addressed. These tend to smolder until fire breaks out. When smoke leads to fire, the typical results are lost customers and lost opportunities.
  • Building a culture of accountability and measurement where people have defined, realistic, measurable targets and dates by which they should be hit.

In this highly interactive session, Bob provides a road map for approaching successful implementation of the strategic planning process. This map will follow the best practices that he and his team have developed to help maximize an organization’s results through people. The session will include real life examples drawn from Bob’s many experiences facilitating the development of strategic plans in companies as wide-ranging as banks, manufacturers, mines, retail operations, chemical companies and service organizations.
